Recently I have noticed a lot of people looking for jobs and realized that I know a lot of sources that many people do not know about to look for employment. Here are a few of them that I use regularly that have gained me employment in the past:
- Peters New Jobs
- Indeed.ca
- Kijiji
- My Career Zone (Algonquin College Students Only)
- Workopolis
- Monster
- Craigslist
- Wow Jobs
- Word of Mouth/Networking
- and Company Websites
I'm sure there are a few more that I forgot to mention but these are the key ones that I have had success with, mainly Indeed.ca and LinkedIn. On Indeed.ca I tend to send out a lot of resumes but on LinkedIn I find that recruiters tend to contact me at least once per week based on my skills (this won't be the same for everyone).
One method that I also did not mention is just walking around and seeing who has "hiring" signs hanging in their windows or at their store front. Even if there isn't a "hiring" sign speaking to a manager is a good idea as some places do not advertise that they are hiring.
